Basketball Restrictions Lifted

From today, Monday 19 July 2021, in line with Government policy, Basketball England is removing most restrictions relating to Covid19.

Following recommended guidelines we will, for now, continue to have hand sanitiser stations for players and basketballs and other equipment will also continue to be cleaned between sessions.

Pre-session screening/temperature checks will no longer take place. Instead everyone is encouraged to adopt a self-screening process. If you or your child have a temperature, cough, headaches or generally feel unwell, please do not attend basketball. If you or your child tests positive for Covid-19 and have been at basketball in the days before, please let the club know as soon as possible.

We’re pleased to say that spectators are now allowed into the sports halls in both our current training venues – Roman Road and the Sports Village. However we have been asked to request our spectators to try to observe social distancing as much as possible whilst inside the venue.

Basketball England Registration
Basketball England membership, amongst other things, provides insurance cover for players during all sanctioned basketball activity (training and matches). Membership normally runs from 1 September to 31 August regardless of when someone joins. Because the membership from the 19/20 season has lapsed, we need all our players to be registered with Basketball England to cover the summer training sessions to 31 August.

The cost of this is £8.50 for all under 18s. Basketball England have a membership portal but this is currently unavailable due to maintenance so all summer memberships need to be registered manually on their website instead. This is the link to the registration page

You will need to click on the link for either BE Membership – Existing Member or BE Membership – New Member. Anyone who has played with us before should be an existing member. If applying for membership as an existing member, you will be asked to provide your BE membership number which will begin with the letter A.

If you don’t know what your number is (you may have it in your emails if you search for basketball), please contact Tracey by email – we should have a record of it in our membership database. Please can everyone complete their BE registration/registration as soon as possible to ensure they have insurance cover and confirm this has been done when you next come to training.

At the end of the registration process you will be asked to make the secure payment of £8.50 by card or PayPal.

If you have any questions, please post comments below or contact Tracey or any of the other Storm committee/coaches.
